Design System by Uber

At Uber, we maintain hundreds of internal web applications used by developers, product managers, and operations teams—essentially everyone in the company. Because each application behaves differently, employees face additional overhead learning how to interact with them effectively. This often leads engineers to spend considerable time reinventing solutions instead of leveraging a unified design system across the organization.

To address these challenges, Uber formed a dedicated design and engineering team that developed a universal solution: Base Web.

Base Web provides a robust foundation for launching, evolving, and standardizing web applications. It is an open‑source toolkit comprising React components and utilities, engineered to be reliable, accessible, and highly customizable.
