Harmony of the Spheres
Gravity Simulator
Description
Harmony of the Spheres
Overview
Harmony of the Spheres is a Newtonian n‑body simulator that enables users to explore a wide range of scenarios—from elegant three‑body choreographies to the trajectory of the New Horizons spacecraft en route to Pluto. Users can add, modify, or delete masses; adjust the gravitational constant; and observe simulations from any mass’s perspective using a rotating reference frame. This feature allows for detailed views such as the kidney‑bean orbit of Earth’s quasi‑moon Cruinthe or the pentagram pattern traced by Venus when viewed from Earth.
Development Intent
This project is a labor of love that I plan to continue developing indefinitely, time permitting. I have numerous exciting ideas slated for future implementation.
Technical Stack
- React – User interface
- Redux – State management
- THREE.js – 3D rendering
Spacecraft models are sourced from NASA. All remaining components—including React elements, the physics engine, and business logic—were built from scratch. For those interested in web development, I recommend undertaking a similar project to gain hands‑on experience.
